

The Part 3 Instructor Test is a test of the candidates skills, knowledge and ability to instruct a novice or partly trained pupil, a pupil who is about test standard or a qualified driver undertaking development training.
The object of this Test is to assess the quality of your instruction and your ability to pass your knowledge on to pupils. The Test is in two parts, each of which lasts about half an hour. You must pass both parts on the same Test
The Tests are split into two parts in which the examiner will take on the role of a Phase 1 and a Phase 2 pupil.
Phase 1 pupils are either Beginners or Part Trained, either they have not driven a car before or they are taking lessons and working through a set training programme.

Training will cover the means and method by which the controls lesson is carried out, employing the appropriate Instructional Techniques including Identification of Faults and Fault Correction. The Instructors attitude and approach to the Pupil will also be covered in the training programme.
Phase 2 pupils are deemed to be trained as they have completed their Training Programme and are ready to take the DSA Driving Test or perhaps have just failed the Driving Test. Alternatively the Pupil may have passed the Driving Test and is now taking a Pass Plus Course.
All scenarios, both phases and all pre-set tests will be fully covered during the Part 3 Training Course which is conducted in the car, on the road.
