Our experience has shown that working with a Driving School on a Trainee Licence gives invaluable experience that would otherwise not be available. By working on the road with novice drivers, your skills and experience, so necessary to a successful Part 3 Test, are enhanced.
On completion of the compulsory 40 hours training course, a Trainee Licence will enable you to improve your knowledge and instructional skills by experiencing and participating in driver tuition.
There is no substitute for experience gained at the sharp end where the theory gives way to reality. All problems you encounter will have to be solved and situations you have not experienced before will occur. This is where the training you have received and your own road and driving experience will both be essential.
Ongoing training from your Personal Trainer will be available and any problems encountered can be resolved either by your Trainer or a phone call to any of our trained and capable Staff who will be able to assist.
Experience gained over this period is invaluable in both preparing you for the Part 3 Test and to ensure you become a successful fully Qualified Driving Instructor.
Therefore we strongly recommend that after completing the Part 3 40 hour training course you apply for a Trainee Licence and join a Driving School to gain practical experience before attempting this final hurdle.
You do not have to give up your current job at this time and can work around your present commitments. A Trainee Licence will ease you in gently to the Driver Training Industry gaining a valuable insight and a better understanding of Learner Driver Tuition.
On passing the Part 1 (Theory Test) and Part 2 (Driving Test) you then have a compulsory 40 hours of Driving Instructor Training. After these 40 hours are complete, a Trainee Licence may be obtained under the patronage of a Driving School. You will then be given the opportunity to earn as you learn (you cannot obtain a Trainee Licence to work independently).
Trainee Licences are subject to status, terms, conditions, rules and regulations as laid down by the Driving Standards Agency.
The cost of a Trainee Licence is currently £140 and it is included in the gold course fee when you join Systematic UK School of Motoring as set out in the costings of our Training Courses. No further licence cost is incurred when applying for a Trainee Licence!
Full and further details will be given to you by your Personal Trainer.
Once a Trainee Licence has been granted by the Driving Standards Agency we will continue to support you with ongoing training consisting of five four hour sessions to enable you to reach Test Standard.
These sessions are especially tailored to individual needs and build on the knowledge and skills obtained so far.The holder of a Trainee Licence must by Law have these additional hours of training above the 40 hours already undertaken. This is provided by Freetrain and appears in the Training Agreement.
When choosing an establishment to help you become a Qualified Driving Instructor, make sure the 40 hour training course and the additional 20 hours with a Trainee Licence are included in the Training Contract.
Full terms and conditions are available from your Personal Trainer.
Once you have completed your 40 hour training course and received your Trainee Licence, the next step is to study for the Instructors Test.
