Training for Part One (ORDIT)

Initial Part 1 training takes place at home, on a distance learning home study course, you will receive training manuals and DVD for the Hazard Perception Test to work through at your own pace. The college is open most days for telephone advice on any of the mock Part 1 papers or Hazard Perception DVD.

Training for Part One & Two

Initial Part 1 & 2 training takes place at the College on a 2 day course most weeks. To train on a Two to One basis in our classroom or vehicle and may return for remedial training if required and as necessary. The course commences at 10am and concludes at 4pm with a one hour lunch break. All training is bookable subject to seat availability in the schools Motor vehicles and classrooms. Hours for Motor vehicle Tuition are Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm

Training for Part Three Phase One (Initial Training)

Initial Part 3 training takes place with your learning provider, Monday to Friday on specific pre-booked dates. Part 3 ADI O.R.D.I.T training is carried out by DSA Approved Driving Instructors and O.R.D.I.T Trainers for 3 days on Part 3 Phase One, covering all P.S.T’s Including Core Competencies. The course commences at 10am and concludes at 4pm with a one hour lunch break.

Training for Part Three Phase Two (Initial training)

Initial Part 3 training takes place with your Learning Provider Monday to Friday on specific pre-booked dates. Part 3 ADI O.R.D.I.T training is carried out by DSA Approved Driving Instructors and O.R.D.I.T trainers for 2 days on Part 3 Phase Two covering all P.S.T’s including Core Competencies. The course commences at 10am and concludes at 4pm with a one hour lunch break.

Supply of Products

The supply of training manuals will be as follows

  • Trial Training Manual for Part 1
  • A Training Manual for Part 1 (Crown Copyright) plus one DVD for the Hazard Perception test. A Training Manual for Part 2,
  • A Training Manual for Part 3. All Training Manuals supplied are the copyright of the College and are supplied at the start of each part of the course.

Accommodation

If you live more than 40 miles from the college, accommodation is supplied as follows:

The College provides accommodation for initial training, at an authorised guest house within 1 mile of the college registered address.

B&B for Part One, number of nights, Nil, B&B for Part Two, number of nights, two

B&B for Part Three (Phase One), number of nights, three, B&B for Part Three (Phase Two), number of nights, two.

Accommodation may be upgraded; a supplementary charge will be made at your own expense.

Examination Fees

The College will make payment to the DSA for the first attempt of the ADI ORDIT examination, cost are as follows,

Licence

The College will make arrangements for your DSA ORDIT (Windscreen licence badge)

Provisions for Travel

The College subsidises travel from your home to the college, allowing you to attend initial training. Calculation of fuel is based on the number of miles from your home town to the college, number of miles รท 40 mpg x £5 per gallon. The college will not pay public transport remuneration’s but a fuel allowance will be paid on a cash basis towards such public transport costs. Mileage is calculated by using the shortest route via computer programme “Microsoft Auto route Express 2000” distances obtained are final and non negotiable. Free travel applies to one return trip for initial training.

Course Bookings

To enable the Driving Instructor to carry on teaching learner drivers and obtain a new qualification, we have split the course down into two day sections. Each stage of the course is usually booked at two to three week intervals and in accordance with the Driving Instructors diary for learner driver test bookings.

ORDIT Exam Format

When you sit the Part Three ORDIT examination it also covers you for the Part Two.

And you have to provide evidence as to how you deliver Part 1.
The format of the exam is that you role play the part of a learner driver and the P.D.I plays the part of the Driving Instructor. The DSA examiner sits in the back seat similar to a check test and observes the lesson.

On the exams you must display role play, the ability to correct core competency and give praise and encouragement to the P.D.I and also demonstrating how you keep a lesson under control.
